Girls MAP Foundation Inc: Meet the Board

We are honored to welcome Pumla Maswanganyi to our foundation’s Board of Trustees.

Pumla is a South African entrepreneur and innovator who works at the intersection of art and impact, disrupting traditional development norms with a 21st-century creative lens. With a global perspective from living and working on 5 continents, her primary passion is to build context-based solutions that improve life chances and inclusivity for disenfranchised populations. Her projects range from vocational training to end child marriage, to leveraging mobile technology for education accessibility in nomadic and migrating communities in Africa.

Pumla is also an expert in developing high-level strategies and systems to bring powerful ideas to life. As the youngest C-suite executive in Baobab Consulting and Jara, two social impact-focused companies, she fosters intercultural collaboration and develops solar & crank-powered IoT devices to provide emergency education in post-disaster zones. She also offers strategic advice to startups and leaders in the arts, medtech, sustainable architecture, and equitable tourism industries.

Pumla's work has earned her recognition from several organizations such as Forbes, the Clinton Global Initiative, the UNLEASH Sustainable Development Innovation Lab, and the African Union. She has also been nominated as one of the 'Most Influential People of African Descent' (MIPAD) under 40 and is a recipient of the Resolution Project and African Women Leaders Network awards.
